CQB is a fighting which takes place in a restricted and urban environment: rooms, steps, corridors...
Currently it can be taught both to soldiers and civilians (at first the CQB training was only military).
It includes techniques with bare hands, different kind of weapons, etc...

The CQB techniques are very important for the soldiers because they are drilled to react in the best ways in the worst situations and this is a basic characteristic. It is necessary to be effective in the close quarter battle because you do not know if the enemy remains still during a technique with bare hands, but you think about his reaction and how to fight.

CQB is a modern martial art, whereas the traditional martial arts are often old style, they can be effective only if you use them together. Modern martial arts could not exist without the traditional ones and also the traditional needs the modern ones. When somebody is kicking you, your life is not at risk, but your ego. But when someone pulls out a weapon, you must know how, when and if act.
